Statement of Belief
The Bible
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Hebrew scriptures of the Old Testament and the New Testament, is the Word of God, divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit and that it is the sole and absolute authority on matters of faith, practice and conduct.
God
“The Lord our God, the LORD is one.” The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the only God and Creator; there is none beside Him, and all the attributes of God are His alone. His unique unity consists of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each eternally and fully God.
God the Father
We believe in God the Father, that He is “from everlasting to everlasting”, (Psalm 90:1), that He is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, love and justice; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ, and that He is unfathomable in His wisdom and knowledge and love. (Romans 11:33 & 1John 3:1)
God the Son
We believe in the full deity and full humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Messiah. We believe in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal future return to the earth in power and glory to rule for a thousand years. We hold to the Bible’s teaching that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever’” (Hebrews 13:8) and that Jesus is ‘the way, the truth and the life” and that no one can come to the Father except through Him (John 14:6), and that “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” (Colossians 1:15).
God the Holy Spirit
We believe in the personage, deity and essential work of the Holy Spirit in regeneration, sanctification and the enduement of power in the believer, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and who regenerates, sanctifies and empowers for ministry all who believe in Christ. We believe that all believers need to be filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit, who enables them to live a godly life and to be bold in their witness for the Lord. (1Cor.6:19-20, Romans 8:13-14).
Creation
We believe in a literal, six day creation by God as stated in the scriptures. We believe that any other theory, including atheistic or theistic evolution, is in error and directly contradicts the Word of God. We believe that through the Lord Jesus Christ “all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” (Colossians 1:16-17)
Sin
We believe in the historical fall of mankind. We believe that all humanity is lost and born with a sinful nature and can only be saved by a personal faith in the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, not by any human works, merit or performance. (John 3:16, Romans 3:10, Titus 3:5).
Salvation and the Gospel
We believe Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers us a free gift of eternal life to all who follow Him, by faith, as their Lord and Saviour. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone. This is the Gospel. Whoever confesses with their mouth, and believes in their heart that Jesus is Lord, shall be saved. We believe we are obliged to share and spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)
The Church
The Church of Jesus Christ is the universal, spiritual body of believers from every tribe, tongue, kindred and people group, both Jew and Gentile, and is indwelt by God through the Holy Spirit and divinely empowered to fulfil ministry and the Great Commission on earth.
Israel
We believe that all God’s promises to Israel will be fulfilled, and that Israel has not been replaced by the church. We believe in the restoration and salvation of the nation of Israel, both to the Land of Israel and to the God of Israel. We believe that “all Israel shall be saved” (Romans 11:26) in the fulness of God’s plan and purposes.
Baptism and the Breaking of Bread
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the Church; 1) Baptism and 2) Breaking of Bread, also known as the Lord’s Supper or communion. We believe in water baptism by immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving the gift of salvation; and the taking of the Lord’s Supper as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation.
Marriage
We believe in the sanctity of marriage, that the Lord Jesus Christ validated the ordinance of marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman. Marriage is God-ordained: “Have you not read that He who made at the beginning made them male and female, and said, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh” (Matthew 19:4-5). Marriage is to be an exclusive relationship, a lifelong faithful union between a man and a woman. This relationship between a husband and wife parallels the relationship between Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:23-30).
Jesus’ Return
We believe in ‘the glorious appearing” (Titus 2:13) of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in His personal, visible return to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom. We believe in the rapture of all believers (1Thes.4:16-17).
Eternity
We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell, and that all those who place their faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord, while those who reject Jesus’ free gift of salvation will spend eternity separated from the Lord. We believe in the resurrection and final judgment of both the saved and the lost, the saved to everlasting life and the lost to everlasting damnation.
Relationship with God
We believe that all humans are loved by God and that He seeks to bring all mankind into right relationship with Himself through the life, death, burial and resurrection of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. It is by faith alone in Him that we can be reconciled to God. He calls all, no matter what their sin is, to repent of those sins and to turn to Him in faith by which He grants them forgiveness and promises a future with Him forever (Revelation 3:5).
