Today is the Day of Pentecost, the 50th day since we celebrated Jesus’ resurrection. It’s the Feast of Weeks, Shavuot, the season of the giving of the Law at Sinai, the story of Ruth and Boaz, and the principle fulfillment, the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. Today’s podcast is from Joseph & Elaine Elsden, with us for this weekend. Before that, we have two praise songs, Come Let us Go Up and Christ Alone, Cornerstone. Bless you.

Enduring by Faith:

Posted on

Welcome to the recording from today’s service. We looked at our need to live by faith in order to endure the coming trials. The statement that we have need of endurance at the end of Hebrews 10, and the call to run with endurance at the beginning of Hebrews 12, are sandwiched with the famous chapter 11 on faith. Before that are two praise and worship videos. Bless you.

Enduring by Faith, Andy King, 21 May 2023:

Hebrews 10:35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:

37 “For yet a little while,
And He who is coming will come and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith;
But if anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.”

39 But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The Ascension

Posted on

This week sees the 40th day following Resurrection Sunday, the day on which Jesus ascended physically back into heaven. This was a truly significant event marking the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry and illustrating the way in which He will return. The link below is to the message from last year on the Ascension, Blessed Rest. Before that is a worship video, Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me) by Casting Crowns, and the testimony from Eugen of God’s goodness. Today’s message from Dr Annang is available via Dropbox. Bless you.

Eugen’s testimony:

Eph.3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessed Rest  Andy King, 23rd May 2022

The Power of Praise and Declaration

Posted on

Welcome to the recording from yesterday’s service. We looked at David’s song of praise in Psalm 18. Before that are two praise songs from Robin Mark, Forever (Give thanks to the Lord) and I am Persuaded. Bless you.

Testimony and exhortation from Dennis, followed by The Power of Praise and Declaration, Andy King, 30 April 2023:

2Timothy 1:7  For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Hebrews 6:19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil

Psalm 18:1-6 I will love You, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.

The pangs of death surrounded me,
And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.
The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me;
The snares of death confronted me.
In my distress I called upon the Lord,
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.

Psalm 18: 28-34 For You will light my lamp;
The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
29 For by You I can run against a troop,
By my God I can leap over a wall.
30 As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

31 For who is God, except the Lord?
And who is a rock, except our God?
32 It is God who arms me with strength,
And makes my way perfect.
33 He makes my feet like the feet of deer,
And sets me on my high places.
34 He teaches my hands to make war,
So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

Psalm 18:46 The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock!
Let the God of my salvation be exalted.

Psalm 18:49 Therefore I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the Gentiles,
And sing praises to Your name.

Palm Sunday

Posted on

Welcome to the recording from today’s service, in which Matt looked at the importance of Palm Sunday. Before that are two worship videos, Hosanna (Praise is Rising) and Blessed is He who Comes in the Name of the Lord. Bless you.

Palm Sunday, Matt Petley, 2nd April 2023:

Matthew 21:1-11 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”

All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:

“Tell the daughter of Zion,
‘Behold, your King is coming to you,
Lowly, and sitting on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ”

So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:

“Hosanna to the Son of David!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Hosanna in the highest!”

10 And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?”

11 So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”
