God in our midst

Posted on Updated on

This wonderful short video from Jesuslifetogether.com perfectly illustrates the vision I described on Sunday for our services. When we start our service we are not just singing through a list of songs, we come together to worship the Lord using the songs as vehicles to help us enter in to the presence of the Lord. Jesus said His Father is looking for us to worship Him in spirit and in truth, John 4:23.

We, the congregation, are the worship team, so to speak, and it’s wonderful when one might bring an appropriate Scripture reading during the worship, and then pray into it. Or someone might feel led to simply lift up a prayer of praise and thanksgiving to the Lord. Or someone else might feel led to bring a message in tongues, someone else an interpretation, someone else a prophecy.

We need sensitivity in these matters. Providing these things are led of the Holy Spirit and done decently and in order then God is glorified and we are all encouraged and built-up in our faith.

It’s important for us to lift up our voices, to bring that ‘sacrifice of praise’. We cannot praise the Lord silently. It’s the ‘fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His Name.’ Hebrews 13:15. And we can lift up our hands in worship, praising the Lord as we do. Psalms 63:4 & 134:2

We want the presence of the Lord in all our meetings, and we each have a gift or ministry to contribute into what the Lord is doing amongst us. Praise the Lord!

‘For where two or three are gathered together in my Name, there am I in the midst of them.’ Mat.18:20

Thanks to Margaret F for sharing the video.
